lyrics
Today I’ll be an island, It seems I’m decided
Til ever forgetful, my hands hold my head
Despite my conviction, there’s something I’m missing
That all my attention just can’t wrestle back
And the time has come and gone to mend and move along
And who mends someone quite this broken?
The memories don’t fade, I think they’re here to stay
They’ve made themselves right at home anyway.
Today I’ll go searching, to see if there’s anyone
Seeing these colours in tones just like me
I’ll read and I’ll eavesdrop, I’ll people-watch non-stop
And maybe just someone won’t look straight through me
Cos the time has come and gone to mend and move along
And who mends someone quite this broken?
The memories don’t fade, I think they’re here to stay
They’ve made themselves right at home anyway.
I know it’s just me letting go, but why does it move so slow?
Just don’t pretend that you know
Today I’ll be an island, it seems I’m decided
Til ever forgetful, my hands hold my head

My favorite Lawson album to sleep to. it's so warm and cozy and relaxed, and it does just make me want to Sleep, Eat, Snuggle & Repeat. Very homely and comforting dillon.

Just discovered this ancient gem among the treasures of Steve's collection. Beautiful melodies, intriguing harmonies and textures and fascinating bass sounds unheard elsewhere. chorna

WTF? How was this not in my Bandcamp collection. I must've bought it from a different account before! Anyway, I've been listening to this since before it was released and a decade on it's still a spectacularly perfect collection of songs. Sounds like a greatest hits album. Literally any track could be chosen as my 'favourite'. Truly astonishing. Steve Lawson

Julien Baker is an acquired taste - assuming of course you’ve acquired great taste in singer songwriters… beautiful, devastating, honest, insightful… I’ve not heard a single song of hers that hasn’t left me in absolute awe. crisbroadhurst
